PAULA TAVARES AS READER: “Your Face Is a Hill of Shadows” Abstract This essay offers readers an overview of the lyric poetry written and published under the name Ana Paula Tavares, or simply Paula Tavares. Its reflections arise from an understanding of her as a transitive writer and reader in transit, engaged in a dynamic border semiosis that is at once situated, ecological, personal, and intimate. As a preliminary step, the essay compares the earlier volumes with the anthology Poesia reunida seguido de Água selvagem , while also considering Manual para amantes desesperados in its entirety. The opening discussion draws attention to the potential interpretive implications of changes in the poems’ graphic presentation in the anthology.
